International dance maker Alesandra Seutin and award-winning jazz musician Randolph Matthews invite you to experiment with uniting your body and voice through movement and sound-making.
Alesandra’s practice fuses urban dance languages with African styles to explore contemporary issues. She offers this day as part of an ongoing collaboration with Randolph whose singing and song writing explores the power of the human voice as a vehicle for transformation and change. This day will look at how movement and voice can offer an antidote to experiences of social division and oppression within our contemporary situation.
Be prepared to move, make noise, sense and express.
This workshop is open to all; no prior dance or music experience is required to take part.
This Doing Day is presented in the run-up to Alesandra’s work for the evening Reckonings, a commission of three works from UK-based dance makers that will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the current Sadler’s Wells theatre. It will have its world premiere 11-13 October 2018.
